The much loved family event, Touch a Truck, will return to Madison on Saturday, July 30, from 10 am to 3 pm. The YMCA parking lot and Keep Street will be filled with a spectacular lineup of trucks and emergency vehicles. Touch a Truck is sponsored by the Friends of the Madison Public Library in cooperation with the Madison area YMCA and the Rotary Club of Madison. The day will provide “children of all ages” an opportunity to climb aboard, beep horns, sound sirens and sit in the driver’s seat of their favorite trucks.
Both adults and children will enjoy the model trains, Lionel ‘O gauge,’ running in an authentic 1928 baggage rail car. Simon Mandal will return with four 20-minute magic shows held between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Balloon animals, face painting and temporary tattoos are all free. Pizza and ice cream will be available for purchase.
Admission for young people, from toddlers up to age 12, will be $8 for advance purchases postmarked or in-person at the library by Friday, July 23 — and $10 after that date and for same-day purchases. The cost for teens and adults is $5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased on the website: HERE
Fund raising events sponsored by the Friends of the Madison Public Library benefit special library offerings, particularly programs for children and teens, plus expanded book and media collections that are beyond the reach of the library’s budget.
Sponsorships for Touch a Truck are still available. Anyone interested in sponsoring the event as a way of expressing support for the library from a family or business should contact Laurie Harting at email@example.com
