The Friends of the Madison Public Library will honor Nancy Adamczyk, Director of the Library, at their annual Gala Benefit from 5:30 to 7:30 pm Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the library.
“It is a privilege to honor Nancy who is retiring after 46 years of service,” said Sylvia Luber, Chairman of the Friends. “She has truly served the community with such wisdom and grace.” During her tenure, Nancy has been a driving force behind the library’s many innovations. In addition to the introduction of many new programs, there have been extensive physical and technological changes. Nancy has been an important part of it all.
Wine and beer and a variety of delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by the Catering Department of Madison’s Thursday Morning Club will be served. The band, ‘Sunnyside Jazz,’ will again provide background music.
All are welcome to attend. Invitations have been mailed and are also available at the front desk of the library, as well as tickets for a fund-raising event for prizes (50/50 raffle). Reservations can also be made HERE.
Admission is $50 per person. Checks should be made payable to Friends of the Madison Public Library. Cancelled checks will serve as a receipt, no tickets will be mailed.
Proceeds from the Gala will be used to support special library programs for children, teens and adults, and to expand the book and media collections. In addition, this past year the Friends contributed to funding for the newly remodeled Children’s Picture Book room and the upgrade to the library’s Wi-Fi system. New museums were also added to the popular Museum Pass Program. Adult education programs sponsored by the Friends include Drew University Minicourses, Tech Tuesdays and Summer Seminars co-sponsored with the Madison Senior Center. Music, movies, app parties, games day and workshops were popular family events.
