Thanks to Madison Rotary

IMG_4362The Friends of the Madison Public Library thank the Madison Rotary for their most generous grant that will be used by the library to purchase a large screen television to be mounted on a portable cart with accessories such as gaming systems and a Blu-Ray Player.  This will assist library staff in various types of programming, such as teaching small classes or hosting gaming parties or small movie showings for children and teens. The Friends will match this grant to total the purchase.

The Friends of the Madison Public Library also thank the Madison Rotary for its generous sponsorship of Touch-a-Truck. This family-friendly community event has been held since 2008 in cooperation with the Madison YMCA and the Madison Rotary. In 2016, 1300 people attended Touch a Truck. This year it will be held Saturday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the library and YMCA grounds.

With our line-up of 26 trucks, children cannot wait to move on to the next one. Magic shows, animal balloons, face painting and tattoos are among the free offerings. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Not only does the community look forward to Touch a Truck, but local businesses, police, fire, ambulance, public works and electric utility services look forward to participating. To see a child’s smile and excitement ‘driving’ these big rigs is rewarding for everyone.

All of the proceeds go directly to the library to support programs for children, teenagers and adults and to purchase books and media.

On behalf of the library and the Friends, we thank Rotary for their generosity.
