Our 2022 Annual Appeal has begun. In November, the Friends of the Madison Public Library reach out to the community to ask for support for our Library. Your generosity allows us to fulfill requests for programs and materials not covered by the regular Library budget.
Your contributions are making a real difference! New and exciting library offerings include “Grab & Go Crafts and Gifts” for all ages and the “Library of Things” with items you can borrow to try out for fun (Digital Drum set, Knitting Kit) or for practical use (Mobile Document Scanner).
Museum Passes that offer discounted or free admission are now easier than ever to access from your home through a new reservation system. Also, check out the library’s quality entertainment and educational digital resources such as Kanopy, Hoopla, Heritage Quest Online, and the Madison Eagle Digital Archive-all these resources are made possible with your financial support.
As always, we extend our gratitude for your continued generosity. Look for our Annual Appeal letter in your mail during November or make an online contribution to our Annual Appeal with this link: DONATE HERE.
Envelopes for the Annual Appeal will also be available at the library’s front desk.
The Friends of the Madison Public Library just began their Annual Appeal by reaching out to over 5,000 households with an appeal letter asking for the continued support of the Madison Public Library. The Friends, a 501 (C)(3) tax-exempt organization of volunteers, are working together with the Library staff and Trustees to continue to provide programs, museum passes, current books, streaming services, and more than patrons have come to enjoy and expect! The Library is open, with innovations that include the outdoor installation of picnic tables for children’s activities and “Make & Take” craft kits for all ages. In addition, virtual programming and streaming services continue to be very popular.
The Library continues to serve as a vibrant part of the community and gifts enhance its services, programming, and extensive collection. Contributions large and small will allow the Friends to maintain our legacy commitment to the Library. Fully tax-deductible donations can be made by a check made payable to the Friends of the Madison Public Library and mailed to 39 Keep Street, Madison, NJ 07940, or a secure donation may be made through our website.
Local Support Lifts Friends Library Fund Raising Initiative to Exceed Goal
The Friends announce the success of the 2020 Challenge! We have exceeded our goal of $40,000 thanks to you, our generous donors. This fundraiser was initiated in November 2020 to allow the Friends to continue our yearly contribution to the Madison Public Library at the same level of our past support. Thanks to your continued generosity, the library will use the funds to provide more extensive program offerings, streaming services, and book collections for children, teens and adults.
In the Fall of each year the Friends of the Madison Public Library (Friends) ask their neighbors from all around Madison to support their library. This year is different for everyone. The Friends are reaching out to the community to meet the 2020 Challenge, a new plan to support the library this Fall as an answer to set backs resulting from the pandemic.
In past years the Madison Library was consistently funded at a level of $40,000 to support services programing for all ages, electronic media, technology and furniture. Most recently in 2019 the Friends gifted $67,000 to the Library. The end goal of the 2020 Challenge Campaign is to keep the legacy going at $40,000.
Currently the Friends are reaching out to major donors who responded during difficult times in 2011 to meet the half way mark of the Challenge at $20,000. To date 11 families and individuals have stepped up to meet the goal with leadership donations totaling over $13,000. Thank you!
In November our request will be mailed and reach out to over 5,000 households in Madison with the hopes that contributions – great and small – will meet or exceed the 2020 Challenge. The Friends (a non-profit, tax-exempt organization) hope you will consider a donation to keep the legacy going and meet the needs of the library in an uncertain time.
November is the month when the Friends of the Madison Public Library reach out to the community in the form of our Annual Appeal. Your generosity allows us to fulfill requests for programs and materials not covered by the regular Library budget.
Your contributions have helped to make the Library an outstanding one. In addition to attending new and exciting programs for children, teens and adults, you now have access to quality entertainment and education through its digital resources such as Kanopy, Hoopla and rb digital. You can also access the Madison Eagle Archive from your own home.
During this past year, thanks to your generosity, the Friends were able to contribute over $50,000 to programming and to the collection, purchase new furniture for the teen area and continue to fund the Museum Pass Program to 15 local and New York City museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
From proceeds of the Annual Appeal, Gala Benefit (March 28, 2020) and Minicourses, we are also able to designate funds for special projects. Other programs funded by the Friends include the Summer Reading Club, the Summer Seminar Series (with the Senior Center) and the bi-monthly newsletter.
As always, we extend our gratitude for your continued support and generosity. Look for our Annual Appeal letter in your mail during November.
