Week 3 (April 29): Prof. Ferrans: The Establishment Clause and Free Exercise of Religion
Week 4 (May 6): Dr Peabody: The Supreme Court Confirmation Process and Who Gets Selected, and How the Justices Decide Cases
Week 5 (May 13): Dr. Peabody: The Future of the Constitution, Prof. Ferrans: Supreme Court Review and Preview

Dr. Bruce Peabody is a Professor of Government and Politics, at the Department of Social Sciences and History at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He earned his BA from Wesleyan University and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. He has written and edited five books and published over fifty scholarly articles. He is the director of Fairleigh Dickinson’s lifelong learning program, the Florham Institute for Lifelong Learning (FILL)

In 2016, Dr. Peabody received the Outstanding Faculty Member Award from the FDU Student Government Association (an award he also won in 2012 and 2004). In 2012 Peabody received the Distinguished Faculty Award for Research and Scholarship from FDU and in 2004 he received the Becton College Teacher of the Year award from his faculty peers. Before joining FDU in 2000, Prof. Peabody served as an arms control lobbyist in Washington, D.C.

Professor Ferrans is a Lecturer of Law and Director of the Pre-Law Program in the Department of Social Sciences and History at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She received her B.A. from William and Mary College and her JD from The Washington College of Law, American UniversityProfessor Ferrans is a lawyer and educator with over 15 years of experience. 

Professor Ferrans was a recipient of the prestigious Becton Fellowship and was awarded the first-ever Becton Adjunct Faculty of the Year Award. She helped start FDU’s Mock Trial team, an academic club competing in inter-collegiate competitions and currently serves as team advisor.  She previously served as a litigation associate, government attorney, and law clerk.
