Madison Library Trustee Joins the Friends as New Liaison
The Friends of the Madison Public Library are pleased to announce that Library Trustee Joanne McCarthy will now serve as their Library Board liaison. “We are excited to have Joanne McCarthy accept the role as Trustee liaison to the Friends board. This is a vital position since it provides a line of communication between the Library Trustees and the Friends to ensure that our goals and messaging for funding align with the library’s current and future needs,” said Pam Hogan, Chair of the Friends. Hogan added, “I worked as a volunteer alongside Joanne in the past and look forward to doing so again.”
Joanne is a long-time resident of Madison who has worked in the legal field for over 30 years as a corporate paralegal, paralegal supervisor, and law firm billing administrator in NYC law firms and legal departments of Fortune 100 corporations. Most recently, she worked at Honeywell at their worldwide headquarters in Morris Plains. As a young mom, she took a break from full-time employment and dedicated time to fundraising as PTO president here in Madison and previously in Glen Ridge. Joanne served on the Education Foundation in Glen Ridge and was actively involved in the Madison Education Foundation during its earliest days.
“Admittedly my interaction to date with the library has been as a user and consumer of its programs. Now that my retirement gives me more time, I hope to contribute by assisting here in Madison,” said McCarthy. “The library is one of the crown jewels of Madison, and I am eager to be a part of the dedicated group helping to enhance the library and its programs. Besides, I have it on good authority that the Friends are . . . fun!”
The Friends are so happy to welcome Joanne.
