2024 Annual Appeal

Each year, the Friends of the Madison Public Library (the Friends), a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization of dedicated volunteers, reaches out to the community to ask for its support for our Library.  This year, we’re focused on change as we eagerly await the Library’s reopening after months of renovation! Thanks to the continued support of dedicated donors, the Friends were able to contribute $100,000 towards the renovations, together with monies from the borough and the New Jersey Construction Bond Fund. According to Library Director Lynn Favreau, the Library will be transformed “into a facility that will serve the community’s needs well into  the future.” Changes include additional spaces for study, group work, and meetings, new furniture and shelving for collections, new ceilings with bright LED lighting, and wiring upgrades for more convenient electrical and internet connections.

Your donations are critically important and enable the Friends to continue to support 100% of our budgeted funding, in quarterly commitments of $10,000, for the Library’s collection – the books, videos, sound recordings, and streaming services you enjoy. The Summer Reading Program and many other programs and events for children and adults are also fully funded by your donations, according to Kathy Trombacco, Friends’ Chair.  Additionally, the highly popular and recently digitized Museum Pass program, with costs of $8,700 annually, is funded with your help.

Please support the Friends this year by donating to our Annual Appeal by sending a check to Friends of the Madison Public Library, 39 Keep Street, Madison, New Jersey 07940, or visit our website: www.friendsmadisonnjlibrary.org.
