2025 Annual Appeal Launch
Do your children participate in the Madison Library’s Summer Reading Program? Has your family used the Museum Pass program available through the Library? These programs – and others – are made possible by the Friends of the Madison Public Library (the Friends), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization of dedicated volunteers. Since 1938, through a variety of activities and programs, the Friends have provided support, advocacy, and funding for projects and collections to enhance the Library experience.
According to Library Director Lynn Favreau, “Because of the fundraising efforts of the Friends, the Library is able to expand its offerings to the Madison community every year. But the Friends do far more than raise money. They advocate for the Library at every opportunity and they lend helping hands to the staff on many occasions.”
Each year, the Friends reach out to the community to ask for its support for our Library – and our 2025 Annual Appeal is beginning now. With many generous donations, the Appeal averages $40,000 each year.
These donations are responsible for funding programs and materials that are not covered by the annual Borough of Madison Library budget. The Library and its patrons rely on these contributions to the Friends for supplemental funding. Gifts will enable the Friends to support funding for the Library’s collection of books, videos and streaming services. Popular items, including the Summer Reading Program and the Museum Pass program mentioned above, are fully funded by contributions. And, thanks to the support of generous donors, the Friends were also able to contribute $100,000 towards the Library’s recent renovations.
Please support the Library this year by contributing to the Friends’ 2025 Annual Appeal. Donations can be made by visiting the Friends website www.friendsmadisonnjlibrary.org and making a secure online donation. Checks made out to “Friends of the Madison Library” may also be mailed to 39 Keep Street, Madison, New Jersey 07940.
