2026 Annual Benefit Honoring Maestro Robert Butts
The Friends of the Madison Public Library will honor Dr. Robert Butts, conductor and composer, at its Annual Benefit on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Founder and Conductor of the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey and an Adjunct Professor at area colleges and universities, Dr. Butts has, for 30 years, served as faculty for the popular “Minicourses” sponsored by the Friends.
Minicourse Coordinator, Sylvia Luber, said, “We are so grateful to have had Dr Butts as an instructor for all these years. His dedication to and passion for music and music education have so enriched the lives of our students! As teacher, maestro, and composer, Dr Butts has inspired students and given them a lasting appreciation of music.”
All are cordially invited to attend the March 21st Benefit to be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Madison Public Library. Attendees will meet Dr. Butts and will be treated to music performed by members of the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey. Hors d’oeuvres catered by Jersey Artisan Café in Morris Plains will be served throughout the evening, as well as wine and beer.
Proceeds from this event will support library programs and events for children, teens, and adults, and expand streaming services and book and media collections. The Friends fund special programs, including the library’s popular Museum Pass and Summer Reading Programs, and also sponsor the Minicourses.
Reservations are $75 per person. Checks should be made payable to Friends of the Madison Public Library and mailed to 39 Keep Street, Madison, NJ 07940 or purchased online now.
